The Pros And Cons Of Cosmetic Tattooing Or Permanent Makeup

By Rena Graham

Cosmetic tattoos or what is also called as permanent makeup is one method available to those who want to improve, repair or redefine certain facial features. There are varied reactions regarding this procedure, but before you agree with this or closing your doors entirely, here is a list of pros and cons to help you make a better decision.

The Pros of Cosmetic Tattoos

Cosmetic tattoos can give someone better definition on the eyes, eyebrows, cheeks and lips. It makes these features pop out as it enhances their shape and color. Going further with this procedure, it can also be used to improve the appearance of the nipple and areola.

The procedure uses micro pigmentation technique which is very similar to cosmetic tattoo but is less uncomfortable. It has long been agreed to be a generally safe procedure that has produced numerous successful results.

It is also a perfect solution for those who doesn’t have the time or those who doesn’t like all the fuss when applying makeup. It can also be appropriate for older people who seem to have a hard time beautifying themselves due to poor eyesight and shaky hands.

Getting a permanent eyebrow tattoo can creates a better and appropriate shape that will saves you from all the trouble of plucking them until they become the arches that you desire. An eyeliner tattoo also adds character and emphasis to the eyes. Adding to this, a tattooed lip line or lipstick also defines and improves its shape, color and attractiveness. You can also wear that peachy look all year round by having some cheek tattoos which imitate the effects of a blush.

The use of cosmetic tattooing is not only limited for vanity reasons. It can also be a way of restoring or improving a person’s confidence and self-esteem after suffering from hair loss. Common reasons for this include certain health conditions, medications and treatments.

The Cons of Cosmetic Tattoos

The disadvantage to cosmetic tattooing is that although it is permanent, it can fade over time. So to maintain the appearance that it had at the beginning, frequent touch-ups would be necessary. The first would have to be done immediately a month after the procedure.

The risk for allergic reactions to the dye used can also be a problem, especially to those who are particularly sensitive to it.

Infection will also be another concern regarding this procedure especially when the equipment’s used are not properly sterilized. This is also the why you have to get your permanent makeup done in a surgical clinic instead of a typical tattoo parlor.

There is also a high chance that you might get uneven results, inappropriate color or that it could be too dark. This can be a painful problem because having it repaired or erased would take a more complicated process than putting them on. This is why it is very important that you only have your cosmetic tattoo procedure done by a skilled, experienced and trained cosmetic tattoo professional.

Saturn moon Enceladus may have salty ocean

Thursday, June 23, 2011

NASA’s Cassini–Huygens spacecraft has discovered evidence for a large-scale saltwater reservoir beneath the icy crust of Saturn’s moon Enceladus. The data came from the spacecraft’s direct analysis of salt-rich ice grains close to the jets ejected from the moon. The study has been published in this week’s edition of the journal Nature.

Data from Cassini’s cosmic dust analyzer show the grains expelled from fissures, known as tiger stripes, are relatively small and usually low in salt far away from the moon. Closer to the moon’s surface, Cassini found that relatively large grains rich with sodium and potassium dominate the plumes. The salt-rich particles have an “ocean-like” composition and indicate that most, if not all, of the expelled ice and water vapor comes from the evaporation of liquid salt-water. When water freezes, the salt is squeezed out, leaving pure water ice behind.

Cassini’s ultraviolet imaging spectrograph also recently obtained complementary results that support the presence of a subsurface ocean. A team of Cassini researchers led by Candice Hansen of the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona, measured gas shooting out of distinct jets originating in the moon’s south polar region at five to eight times the speed of sound, several times faster than previously measured. These observations of distinct jets, from a 2010 flyby, are consistent with results showing a difference in composition of ice grains close to the moon’s surface and those that made it out to the E ring, the outermost ring that gets its material primarily from Enceladean jets. If the plumes emanated from ice, they should have very little salt in them.

“There currently is no plausible way to produce a steady outflow of salt-rich grains from solid ice across all the tiger stripes other than salt water under Enceladus’s icy surface,” said Frank Postberg, a Cassini team scientist at the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

The data suggests a layer of water between the moon’s rocky core and its icy mantle, possibly as deep as about 50 miles (80 kilometers) beneath the surface. As this water washes against the rocks, it dissolves salt compounds and rises through fractures in the overlying ice to form reserves nearer the surface. If the outermost layer cracks open, the decrease in pressure from these reserves to space causes a plume to shoot out. Roughly 400 pounds (200 kilograms) of water vapor is lost every second in the plumes, with smaller amounts being lost as ice grains. The team calculates the water reserves must have large evaporating surfaces, or they would freeze easily and stop the plumes.

“We imagine that between the ice and the ice core there is an ocean of depth and this is somehow connected to the surface reservoir,” added Postberg.

The Cassini mission discovered Enceladus’ water-vapor and ice jets in 2005. In 2009, scientists working with the cosmic dust analyzer examined some sodium salts found in ice grains of Saturn’s E ring but the link to subsurface salt water was not definitive. The new paper analyzes three Enceladus flybys in 2008 and 2009 with the same instrument, focusing on the composition of freshly ejected plume grains. In 2008, Cassini discovered a high “density of volatile gases, water vapor, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as organic materials, some 20 times denser than expected” in geysers erupting from the moon. The icy particles hit the detector target at speeds between 15,000 and 39,000 MPH (23,000 and 63,000 KPH), vaporizing instantly. Electrical fields inside the cosmic dust analyzer separated the various constituents of the impact cloud.

“Enceladus has got warmth, water and organic chemicals, some of the essential building blocks needed for life,” said Dennis Matson in 2008, Cassini project scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

“This finding is a crucial new piece of evidence showing that environmental conditions favorable to the emergence of life can be sustained on icy bodies orbiting gas giant planets,” said Nicolas Altobelli, the European Space Agency’s project scientist for Cassini.

“If there is water in such an unexpected place, it leaves possibility for the rest of the universe,” said Postberg.

Rachel Weisz wants Botox ban for actors

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

English actress Rachel Weisz thinks that Botox injections should be banned for all actors.

The 39-year-old actress, best known for her roles in the Mummy movie franchise and for her Academy Award-winning portrayal in The Constant Gardener, feels facial Botox injections leave actors less able to convey emotion and that it harms the acting industry as much as steroids harm athletes.

In an interview with UK’s Harper’s Bazaar, coming out next month, Weisz says, “It should be banned for actors, as steroids are for sportsmen,” she claims. “Acting is all about expression; why would you want to iron out a frown?”

Two dead after building collapse in Kenya

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Two people in Kenya died earlier today after a five-storeyed building under construction in the town of Kiambu collapsed. Four others were said to have been injured.

The incident occurred in the middle of the night, at 02:30 local time (23:30 UTC), on Sunday morning. The building was only a few metres from another building that collapsed in October of last year, killing thirty people.

The building is reported to have been condemned last year, when the authorities deemed it substandard. Preparations to demolish the building started yesterday, in accordance with a court order that required the building to be destroyed within thirty days.

One of the casualties from the accident was Maina Irungu, aged seventeen; the other hasn’t been identified. People wounded by the collapse were taken to the Kiambu District Hospital. The victims were all people who lived in houses near the collapsed building. Rescue operations are still ongoing, being conducted by the Red Cross, police, and military. Officials also ordered evacuation of two buildings in the vicinity when cracks were spotted on them, according to Capital FM Kenya.

This story in itself is reflective of a major infrastructure problem in Kenya, according to the BBC, China says it will give a US$7 million (£4.4m, 4.9m) grant to help fund infrastructure development projects in Kenya.

Breast Massage: An Alternative Breast Enhancement Option

Submitted by: Roxanne Manning

For women searching for breast enhancement solutions, there are generally about three options. The most popular breast enhancement options include: 1. Plastic Surgery 2. Breast Enhancement Pills and 3. Padded Under Garmets. Each of these breast enhancement options have strengths and weakenesses. Following is brief overview of the top three breast enhancement options.

1. Plastic Surgery/Breast Augmentation: Breast Augmentation involves surgically placing implants, mostly silicone, behind each breast in order to increase volume and improve shape. Breast Augmentation can be performed at any age after the breasts are developed. Breast augmentation is the fastest way to achieve breast enhancement, however, nearly 64% of women regret having breast augmentation surgery. Common complaints include burning, heaviness, scarring, unnatural feel, leaking, pain. The high cost also is prohibitive.

2. Breast Enhancement Pills: Breast Enahancement Pills are a tricky bunch. Many companies are just plain selling crap, that simply doesn’t work. The most common complaints include weight gain with no actual increase in bust size. Breast enhancement pills can work, but studies show in concert with other methods.

3. Padded Undergarmets/Filler Cups: The old standbys. Padded bras and filler cups are good for an instant fix and gererally works great under clothing. You can also put them on and take them off at your will. The problems are that you do have to take them off , you can’t wear them in a bathing suit and you don’t get the permanent change that you really want.

There is however a third and very effective option. Studies have shown that breast massage coupled with the proper herbal supplement can increase breast size without the negative side effects.

Breast enhancement is a very personal choice. It is also a very universal desire of millions of women. Nearly all women want the nice, firm breast of their youth. There are very few options that will provide that. Cost and safety are two main barriers preventing many women from getting what they want. Breast enhancement options must be looked into very seriously and very carefully. However, they do exist for the determined woman.

Wikinews interviews 2020 Melbourne Lord Mayor Candidate Wayne Tseng

This article mentions the Wikimedia Foundation, one of its projects, or people related to it. Wikinews is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Thursday, October 22, 2020

2020 Melbourne Lord Mayor candidate Wayne Tseng answered some questions about his campaign for the upcoming election from Wikinews. The Lord Mayor election in the Australian city is scheduled to take place this week.

Tseng runs a firm called eTranslate, which helps software developers to make the software available to the users. In the candidate’s questionnaire, Tseng said eTranslate had led to him working with all three tiers of the government. He previously belonged to the Australian Liberal Party, but has left since then, to run for mayorship as an independent candidate.

Tseng is of Chinese descent, having moved to Australia with his parents from Vietnam. Graduated in Brisbane, Tseng received his PhD in Melbourne and has been living in the city, he told Wikinews. Tseng also formed Chinese Precinct Chamber of Commerce, an organisation responsible for many “community bond building initiatives”, the Lord Mayor candidate told Wikinews.

Tseng discussed his plans for leading Melbourne, recovering from COVID-19, and “Democracy 2.0” to ensure concerns of minorities in the city were also heard. Tseng also focused on the importance of the multi-culture aspect and talked about making Melbourne the capital of the aboriginals. Tseng also explained why he thinks Melbourne is poised to be a world city by 2030.

Tseng’s deputy Lord Mayor candidate Gricol Yang is a Commercial Banker and works for ANZ Banking Group.

Currently, Sally Capp is the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, the Victorian capital. Capp was elected as an interim Lord Mayor in mid-2018 after the former Lord Mayor Robert Doyle resigned from his position after sexual assault allegations. Doyle served as the Lord Mayor of Melbourne for almost a decade since 2008.

Australian government announces study of tax system

Monday, February 27, 2006

The Australian federal treasurer, Peter Costello, has announced a study to compare the Australian taxation system with those of other countries. It will include overall tax levels, as well as indirect tax, income tax and company tax systems. Mr Costello says that the results are intended to inform discussion of the future of the tax system.

“The aim of the study is to provide a public document that compares Australian taxes to those in other countries. This will identify those areas where Australia leads comparable countries and those areas where it lags. It will enable a focus on the most important areas,” Mr Costello said in a media release.

The study will be lead by Mr Richard (Dick) Warburton and Mr Peter Hendy. Mr Warburton is Chairman of Caltex Australia Ltd, and has been Chairman of the Board of Taxation since its inception in September 2000. According to its website, the Board of Taxation is “a non-statutory advisory body charged with contributing a business and broader community perspective to improving the design of taxation laws and their operation.”

The Australian Democrats welcomed the study but warned that nothing would be achieved without serious reform of the tax system.

“The Inquiry announced yesterday by the Treasurer may turn out to be a step in the right direction but will be a pointless exercise if it ends up being simply a ‘desktop’ report,” said Senator Murray, Democrats Tax Spokesperson.

“The problem with Mr Costello’s approach is that in contrast to the approach taken on the GST, the New Tax System, and the Business Tax System, he has seen income tax change to be solely part of the budget process. Across the whole of the political and public policy spectrum, there is strong agreement that reform is needed, not just tax cuts, and that the income tax system needs redesigning, not just fine tuning.”

2008 Google Developer Day starts from Yokohama, Japan

Thursday, June 12, 2008

2008 The 2nd-annual Google Developer Day started its tournament in Pasifico Yokohama, Japan as its first stage. According to Google, this programmer-based event is similar to Google I/O, the largest programming event which is only available in USA and held earlier on May 28 & 29 in San Francisco, California.

Takuya Oikawa, Software Engineer of Google Japan, analyzed the future trend on programming and redefined the “3C”. “There are three key features to drive on the next generation programming, that is, ‘Client’ [user-oriented], ‘Connectivity’, and ‘Cloud Computing‘,” stated Oikawa.

Fumitoshi Ukai, the Software Engineer of Google Japan, has pointed out the importance of Google App Engine, and performed a SWOT analysis using the Sichuan earthquake as an example, and said: “The failure or success of Cloud Computing will be determined by three critical factors – ability of offline computing, language support, and quotas of databases.”

After the Japan Stage, 2008 Google Developer Day will be held in China, Taiwan, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil during the month of June. The Europe Tour of Google Developer Day will kick off from London, England on September 16.

Simple Everyday Pain Relievers: Your Home’s Best Massage Chair

By Marion Mccants

Pain is broadly defined as a distressed signal of the body that something is either broken or not functioning normally. Physically, it can manifest through a range of things: namely a throbbing pain, a sore kind of pain, a stinging kind of pain, an aching kind of pain and many more. What is common through all these feelings is the feeling of uneasiness, albeit at different degrees. Pain in its core and its is essence is uneasy and discomforting, but at the same time may be an understatement to just describe it this way. The most intense degrees of physical pain is so great that it may cause one to faint or it may entail the use of painkillers such as painkilling drugs and anaesthesia.

There are two major kinds of pain: the physical and the emotional pain. Medically speaking the pain that is more recognized and treated is the physical pain. This is because as mentioned, physical pain can bring great agitation to the point of fainting.

Physical pain can be caused by many things. As earlier mentioned, when a body part is not functioning properly or when is broken, there is usually pain. This is because scientifically, pain serves as a signal to the brain that something is wrong. It is one of the built-in response mechanisms of human beings that protect them from harmful stimulus. Many may resent pain, but one could just imagine the world without physical pain, people would not be able to tell when their hands are broken or burning.

However, with this underlying benefit of pain comes the heavy price of having to endure it. Fortunately, innovations in medicine have created a branch that deals with pain management-this is called algiatry. Algiatry is the branch of medicine that deals with and cures pain, thus easing the discomfort caused by it. It deals with both the drug-related methods of curing pain, and with other more sophisticated methods such as anaesthesia. There is even a team that specializes in managing pain, and this-much like a typical team that you would see in a hospital operating room or in an ambulance-is composed of medical practitioners who specialize in aiding pain, nurses and paramedics.

Not all physical pain however has to end up in the hospital. Sometimes domestic remedies may be sought after as an alternative to the more expensive and more serious pain-relieving operations available in the hospital.

For instance, after a long tiring day at work, there may be a bit of soreness in key areas such as your back and your neck. It would not deem very practical to go to a hospital for this kind of minor pain, thus people in the house may resort to more minor means of treating pain. This may include the intake of oral pain relievers in the form of tablets, or even just a simple relaxing position on your favorite and your best massage chair. This simple act of sitting down on your best massage chair may be enough to ease the minor soreness you experience.

Police report drug haul seizure worth up to £30 million in Brownhills, England

Monday, December 2, 2013

Police in the West Midlands in England today said nearly 200 kilograms worth of drugs with value possibly as great as £30 million (about US$49 million or €36 million) has been seized from a unit in the town of Brownhills. In what an officer described as “one of the largest [seizures] in the force’s 39 year history”, West Midlands Police reported recovering six big cellophane-wrapped cardboard boxes containing cannabis, cocaine, and MDMA (“ecstasy”) in a police raid operation on the Maybrook Industrial Estate in the town on Wednesday.

The impact this seizure will have on drug dealing in the region and the UK as a whole cannot be underestimated

The seized boxes, which had been loaded onto five freight pallets, contained 120 one-kilogram bags of cannabis, 50 one-kilogram bags of MDMA, and five one-kilogram bricks of cocaine. In a press release, West Midlands Police described what happened after officers found the drugs as they were being unloaded in the operation. “When officers opened the boxes they discovered a deep layer of protective foam chips beneath which the drugs were carefully layered”, the force said. “All the drugs were wrapped in thick plastic bags taped closed with the cannabis vacuum packed to prevent its distinctive pungent aroma from drawing unwanted attention.” Police moved the drugs via forklift truck to a flatbed lorry to remove them.

Detective Sergeant Carl Russell of West Midlands Police’s Force CID said the seizure was the largest he had ever made in the 24 years he has been in West Midlands Police and one of the biggest seizures the force has made since its formation in 1974. “The impact this seizure will have on drug dealing in the region and the UK as a whole cannot be underestimated”, he said. “The drugs had almost certainly been packed to order ready for shipping within Britain but possibly even further afield. Our operation will have a national effect and we are working closely with a range of law enforcement agencies to identify those involved in this crime at whatever level.”

Expert testing on the drugs is ongoing. Estimates described as “conservative” suggest the value of the drugs amounts to £10 million (about US$16.4 million or €12 million), although they could be worth as much as £30 million, subject to purity tests, police said.

Police arrested three men at the unit on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug. The men, a 50-year-old from Brownhills, a 51-year-old from the Norton area of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, and one aged 53 from Brownhills, have been released on bail as police investigations to “hunt those responsible” continue. West Midlands Police told Wikinews no person has yet been charged in connection with the seizure. Supplying a controlled drug is an imprisonable offence in England, although length of jail sentences vary according to the class and quantity of drugs and the significance of offenders’ roles in committing the crime.
